EPISODE 3

Episode 3 ONE OF MANY ‘FIRST MEETINGS’
Posted on
I don’t remember much of how Bill got here, nor our first meeting.  I do remember I was trying not to stare at him.  I think he was doing the same thing.  We didn’t meet on our own, my husband at the time and I lived in a home we were building ourselves in the Laurentian mountains of Quebec.(That’s another “adventure.”)  This is where Bill and I got the opportunity to take walks in the woods on our 24 acres and sit on the back porch and have catch-up sessions.
Bill shared all the documents that he got from the Children’s Aid and the Adoption Registry, including information about his birth mother and his two siblings.  One was me and another was a boy who had not registered his contact information.  The only information I had and that Bill added was about my birth mother, which details I can’t share with you because she is still living.  I can tell you about my maternal heritage – but that’s for another post. More about Bill and I tomorrow.

EPISODE 2

Episode 2 Letter from Bill
Posted on
In May of 1995, six years after I had initially written to the Adoption Registry, I received my first letter from my brother.  The letterhead said, “Friend of Youth – The Optimist Club of …..”  He had been thinking of me and was so excited, he couldn’t sleep.  He wanted to meet me as soon as possible.  I lived in Quebec at the time and he was in Ontario, but still a good distance for both of us.  So we talked frequently by phone and then the miracle happened!  Bill asked for a week off in June and he got it!!  He would be visiting me in Quebec to meet for the first time!  He would also bring documentation he got about our birth father and another sibling. In future episodes, I will tell you about our meeting and about all the wonderful documents he shared with me.  This was only the beginning of an adventure that would take me from finding one sibling to finding many and also my birth mother and a whole other family.

EPISODE 1

Episode 1 IT ALL STARTED

Posted on
It all started with a long distance phone call. (Don’t all good stories begin that way?)  It was from Toronto Adoption Registry where I had put my name in to look for my birth parents AND my son.  I had a brother who was looking for me.  Our mother’s name was so-and-so and he was born in December of 1948.  Huh?????  Impossible.  I was born in April of that same year!!!! I was put on hold and then told we shared the same father, but had different mothers.  I agreed to giving my information to my brother, whose name turned out to be Bill.  A couple of days later I got another phone call.
